We can’t stop climate change with our sensors alone, but we can mitigate its consequences for people and the environment.

For years, the number of extreme weather events has been steadily increasing; heavy rain and storms repeatedly lead to flooding, inundations and flood disasters. Then every second counts. The faster information about rising water levels in streams, rivers or retention basins reaches those responsible, the sooner action can be taken and worse outcomes prevented.

With our components, an effective early warning system can be set up — simple, effective and reliable. It consists of:

• Sensor technology – Level probes record fill levels according to the hydrostatic principle. Their data not only provide precise levels, they also allow conclusions about how quickly the water is rising.
• Connectivity – Via the AD003 converter with analogue input and IO-Link interface, the sensor data are transmitted to the io-key as a gateway to the cloud.
• Alarming and analytics – If defined target values are exceeded, an alarm and a notification by SMS or email are triggered almost in real time. For more complex monitoring tasks, environmental data such as temperature, humidity, etc. can also be recorded and transmitted in parallel. These enable predictions about the further development of water levels.

A potentially life-saving system that is so easy to install that it can be put into operation across at-risk areas in time before the flood season — for example as a sensor chain along a river course or as a highly scalable solution on a larger body of water.
