The most important questions

Yes – using both devices together in the same cloud (autosen.cloud or via MQTT in your cloud) is generally possible – e.g. if both devices are integrated into the same cloud instance.

The battery life depends on the configuration of the measurement and transmission intervals and therefore on your specific application. In the factory configuration, the minion measures every 60 minutes and transmits the data to the cloud once a day. In this case, the battery life is approximately 375 days.

Wireless: minion transmits its data directly to the cloud using modern mobile communications technologies such as LTE-M and NB-IoT. These energy-efficient IoT radio standards enable a stable connection, long range and reliable data transmission – even in hard-to-reach operating environments.

Positioning: minion has an integrated GNSS module (Global Navigation Satellite System) that determines the device’s position data. This means the sensor’s location can be recorded at any time and displayed in the connected cloud or application.

Battery: In the factory setting, the sensor measures every 60 minutes and transmits data once a day – enabling around 375 days of battery life. The actual runtime varies depending on the measurement and transmission interval, ambient temperature, as well as mobile network and signal quality.

Note: In cold locations or with frequent transmissions, a shorter runtime should be expected and, if necessary, a battery replacement or an external power supply should be planned.

Yes. The minion can establish a Bluetooth connection to smartphones or tablets and can be used with the minion app.

However, the main operation and data evaluation takes place in the connected cloud (e.g. dashboard, alerts, export functions). The app complements this system and is particularly useful for:

  • smooth commissioning of the minion
  • setting device configurations
  • reading out metadata and diagnostic information
  • forwarding diagnostic data to autosen Support for fault analysis

The minion app can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store (iOS) and the Google Play Store (Android).

The minion app is particularly beneficial for smooth commissioning of the minion: you can set up the devices, read out metadata and, if necessary, forward diagnostics directly to autosen Support for troubleshooting.

The minion vibration starter kit is available from €263.79. On the configurator page (minion IoT sensor system configurator) you can conveniently select which sensors and digital services you would like to add.

Yes. The minion is also designed for outdoor use. With protection class IP67, the sensor is dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion. It also operates without an external power connection, meaning even remote locations can be reliably monitored.

For outdoor use, the following points, among others, should also be considered:

  • the permissible temperature range
  • UV exposure at the installation site
  • installation conditions (surface, vibration, protection)
  • available radio or mobile network coverage

This ensures that the minion can be operated reliably outdoors in the long term.
