The most important questions

The io-key is a radio-based IoT gateway and at the same time a 2-port IO-Link master. It connects IO-Link sensors directly to the cloud – without a PLC and without complex IT infrastructure. With the io-key, sensor data can be visualised and monitored in real time and used for alerts or automations.

The io-key supports full IO-Link compatibility and can be used with more than 20,000 sensors from a wide range of manufacturers. Thanks to plug & play, the io-key automatically detects connected sensors and transfers their process values directly to the cloud without additional configuration.

The io-key transmits all sensor data wirelessly via mobile network to the cloud. This means no local IT connection is required and the system is immediately ready for operation – even in remote or mobile locations.

Typical applications for the io-key are:

  • Retrofitting existing machines
  • Monitoring mobile equipment
  • Monitoring critical systems or hard-to-reach measurement points

The io-key enables fast, wireless retrofitting without intervening in existing control systems.

The io-key uses modern IoT mobile technologies such as LTE-M. If an area is not yet fully covered by LTE-M, the device automatically switches to a 2G fallback. This keeps the io-key online even where newer networks are not yet available.

The io-key can be used immediately in many European countries and, depending on the model, in other international markets as well. The mobile connection covers, among others, the DACH region, large parts of Europe and various non-European countries. You can find an up-to-date and complete list of countries in our notes on network and country coverage.

  1. You can find your customer number on your invoice.
  2. The IMEI number is located on the back of the io-key.
  3. With this combination, you register your device at start.autosen.cloud and assign the name of your cloud instance.
  4. Then you log in with your user account and immediately see your sensor data.

For repeat orders, the io-key is automatically assigned to your existing cloud account.

To operate the io-key you need:

  • Connection cables for IO-Link ports 1 & 2
  • a 24 V DC power supply (e.g. power supply unit AN003)
  • suitable IO-Link sensors – also available from the autosen range

You can find additional components in our standard accessories section.

The io-key is a gateway optimised for IO-Link technology. IO-Link sensors work via plug & play and transfer your process values directly to the cloud, without complex configuration. Non-IO-Link-capable sensors with binary or analogue outputs can also be brought to the cloud using our digital or analogue input modules AD003, AD006, AD007, AD010 and AD011.

The monthly flat-rate fee is always billed automatically on the 1st day of the calendar month. You can also choose annual payment and benefit from a 10% price advantage. You can either select this directly when purchasing or have your contract changed at any time via our service hotline. Longer terms are also possible – just get in touch with us.

The io-key has a SIM card onboard. Data transmission is a flat rate and is billed together with the cloud service, in the monthly direct debit model, depending on the variant (XS, S, M, L).

The io-key is available in different tariff variants, which differ in the transmission interval.

Models are available with transmissions:

  • once a day
  • hourly
  • every minute
  • every 10 seconds
